An analysis of Manitoba labour force data finds that younger workers, women and those employed in the public sector struggled more than the national average. The COVID recovery was slower amongst a substantial portion of the labour force in Manitoba. Actions by the Manitoba government resulted in Manitoba being the only province to see increased unemployment in the public sector relative to national rates during the pandemic.
