Peggy Nash

Executive Director

Peggy Nash (she/her/hers) is the executive director of the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternative (CCPA). She is a co-instructor of the unique experiential program Women in the House. She is a former NDP member of parliament, where she served as official opposition critic in Finance and Industry. She is the author of the book Women Winning Office, An Activist’s Guide to Getting Elected, which has been called “a master class in electoral politics.”

Prior to becoming a parliamentarian, Peggy was a senior labour negotiator with the CAW (now Unifor), where she led negotiations in the auto, airlines and service sector. She also developed groundbreaking human rights and equity programs for which she was named to the Order of Canada and awarded an honorary Doctor of Laws from Brock University.
