The Manitoba office of the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives congratulates Dr. Jim Silver as the recipient of the 2020 Lieutenant Governor’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration for the IPAC Manitoba region.

Jim co-founded the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives – Manitoba office in 1997 with Wayne Anthony and the late Errol Black. Jim has served tirelessly with CCPA Manitoba as a Steering Committee member, a member of the CCPA’s Member’s Council and as a Research Associate.

Jim was very active in the redevelopment of the former Merchant’s Hotel into Merchant’s Corner on Selkirk Avenue and important inner city development initiatives such as the transformation of Lord Selkirk Park.

Jim is a prolific academic and mentor to many who are activists and academics in the inner city today.
