This report looks at family resource centres in six Manitoba Housing complexes outside Winnipeg’s inner city. These resource centres meet very basic needs for the tenants, including access to phones, faxes, and computers; social engagement with friends and neighbours; and, for many people, when money is tight at some times in the month, access to food banks, cooking programs and occasional snacks. Tenants spoke about the changes they have seen in themselves, in their families and in the communities as a result of the resource centres. Their comments show that these centres are important resources for the communities.
