Who Benefits from Caribou Decline

New research from the Corporate Mapping Project looks at the promised economic and financial benefits of coal mining projects in northeastern British Columbia and concludes that the jobs, tax revenues and production activity estimates are wildly overstated, while pledges to protect vulnerable wildlife species have not been met. This study look at how few economic benefits have been realized for three coal mining projects in the region during a time when resource extraction has continued to threaten the existence of the endangered woodland caribou in northeastern BC.
