The Manitoba Research Alliance is a closely-knit group of academic researchers and community and government partners. We have a reputation for working collaboratively and producing quality, policy-relevant research. While we focus on Manitoba to build on previous research and to ensure an in-depth analysis, our research has broad importance. Because inner cities and Aboriginal communities everywhere face crises, our findings will interest academics, policy makers and community organizations at local, national and international levels.
Manitoba Research Alliance
In this report, six Aboriginal street gang members—all of whom have served time in prison and have spent much of their lives in gangs—share their experiences and intimate knowledge of Winnipeg's inner city, and ask what it will take to make meaningful change.
The Truth About Consequences
This report fundamentally rethinks how we treat and rehabilitate our prisoners. It addresses the limitations of a punitive approach to offenders, and goes to the root causes of crime—promoting investment in prevention and rehabilitation.
