New report finds Adult Education struggling to meet demand.

Underfunded adult education programs in Manitoba are struggling to meet the demand for literacy and grade twelve equivalency in the province. Unearth this Buried Treasure: Adult Education in Manitoba is based on in-depth interviews and focus groups with 30 Directors of adult education programs in all parts of the province.

The Manitoba government reports there are 192,600 Manitobans between the ages of 16 and 65 whose literacy levels were too low to enable them to participate fully in society.  Jim Silver looks at the current critical situation with an eye to the future and the potential of Adult Education in Manitoba.
